Job summary

Mencap is seeking a Waken Night Support Worker in Londonderry to provide compassionate care for people with learning disabilities. The role involves night shifts, assisting with personal care and daily tasks, and promoting independence through Positive Behaviour Support strategies.

The ideal candidate will be patient, empathetic, and flexible, with a commitment to safety and wellbeing. Registration with NISCC is required, with an enhanced Access NI check.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate with empathy and positivity.
• Flexibility to work nights, weekends and shifts.
• Willingness to register with NISCC and undergo Enhanced Access NI check.

Responsibilities

• Support people with learning disabilities in daily lives and routines.
• Assist with personal care and medication, including bathing and dressing.
• Help with finances and everyday tasks like shopping and bill payments.
• Encourage independence and social inclusion by supporting community activities.
• Use Positive Behaviour Support strategies to enhance quality of life.
• Build trusting, meaningful relationships based on empathy and respect.
