Job summary

Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, is seeking an outstanding ecologist or environmental scientist to lead a programme of applied ecosystem research across Wakehurst and Kew sites. The role integrates field ecology, spatial analysis, environmental monitoring and Earth observation to advance understanding of ecosystems and their services.

Qualifications

PhD in a relevant field; strong post-PhD research record.
Expertise in spatial ecology, ecosystem science or ecological modelling.
Experience leading interdisciplinary teams and securing funding.

Responsibilities

Lead an ambitious programme of applied ecosystem research across Wakehurst and partner landscapes.
Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, supervise researchers and students, and build strategic partnerships.
Develop practical tools and policy-relevant evidence for ecosystem monitoring and management.
