Bannatyne in Bury St Edmunds is seeking a friendly Waiting Staff member to join our stylish, welcoming team. You will take orders, serve with a smile, and confidently upsell dishes and drinks to enhance the guest experience.

• Ensure tables are cleaned and reset quickly for next guests.
• Handle guest queries or complaints professionally.
• Assist with prep, restocking, and cleaning of the restaurant or bar.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in line with safety regulations.
• Support colleagues and contribute to team morale and guest experience.
• Attend team meetings and training as required.

A typical day in the life of a Waiting Staff:

• Greet guests warmly and professionally, ensuring they are seated comfortably and promptly attended to.
• Take accurate food and drink orders using the hotel’s ordering system and relay them efficiently to the kitchen or bar.
• Serve food and beverages to guests in a timely, courteous, and professional manner.
• Maintain excellent product knowledge of menus, daily specials, wine lists, and allergen information.
• Ensure all tables are cleaned and reset quickly and efficiently for the next guests.
• Handle guest queries or complaints promptly and professionally, escalating issues to the Restaurant Manager where needed.
• Assist with the preparation, restocking, and cleaning of the restaurant or bar before, during, and after service.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in line with health and safety and food safety regulations.
• Support colleagues and contribute positively to team morale and the overall guest experience.
• Attend team meetings and training as required to continually improve service and performance.

It would be desirable if you had previous experience in a customer-facing role, preferably within a restaurant or hotel environment. It would also be advantageous to hold a Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 1 or above), but not essential – training can be provided.
