Join a forward-thinking organization dedicated to animal welfare, as an equine veterinarian at a state-of-the-art clinic in New Zealand. This permanent full-time role offers a competitive salary, opportunities for professional development, and a supportive team environment. With a focus on both ambulatory and hospital care, you will engage in reproductive work and internal medicine while enjoying the beautiful outdoor lifestyle that New Zealand has to offer. If you have a passion for equine care and are ready to make a difference, this is the perfect opportunity for you.
We are united by our passion for the welfare of animals. Together, we create the best medical standards in an appreciative working atmosphere.
We are expanding our team and have a permanent full-time (40-hour minimum) position available for a motivated equine veterinarian starting from 1st August 2025. The position is based at the Waikato Equine Veterinary Centre in Cambridge, a full-service equine clinic situated in the heart of New Zealand's thoroughbred breeding, racing, and general equestrian community. Our state-of-the-art facility is equipped with digital imaging modalities, nuclear scintigraphy, video and dynamic endoscopy, modern theatre, and hospital facilities, serving all equine athletes and leisure horses.
You will work alongside a team of sixteen equine veterinarians, interns, and support staff. This role suits an equine veterinarian with over four years of practical experience. The work involves general ambulatory equine care with opportunities to focus on reproduction and internal medicine. There is scope for those interested in medicine to expand their caseload and take on responsibilities both in ambulatory and hospital settings, with ongoing learning and continuing education. Reproductive work mainly involves Thoroughbred studs, with some Sporthorse reproductive frozen semen and embryo transfer work at the clinic. The after-hours rotation is 1:4, with one weeknight per week. We encourage ongoing professional development through internal and formal continuing education, providing an excellent environment to grow your knowledge and skills within a highly professional team.
Beyond your professional career, New Zealand offers fantastic outdoor opportunities, including beaches, hiking, skiing, and water sports, providing a great lifestyle for families.
