Job summary

DB Cargo (UK) Limited is recruiting for a Wagon Maintainer (Rail Freight) at our Westbury site. You will be responsible for the maintenance, overhaul and refurbishment of rolling stock in accordance with the relevant regime and specification.

The role requires a mechanical mindset and practical experience with air and hand tools. We offer a starting salary of £28,842.00 with a 36-hour week plus shift allowance, 25 days annual leave, a defined contribution pension, on-site parking with EV

Qualifications

• Mechanical mindset with hands-on tool experience.
• Experience using air and hand tools is essential.
• Fabrication, grinding and brake testing experience is advantageous.
• Experience operating manual or CNC lathes, especially XYZ lathes, is a significant advantage.

Responsibilities

• Fault finding and rectification on rolling stock.
• Repair damage and perform modifications as required.
• Prepare damage reports and photos for customers, complete documentation.
• Complete all work orders and store documentation correctly.
• Communicate stoppages and progress to Field Maintenance Coordinator.
• Maintain stock levels and reorder parts as needed.

Job Title: Wagon Maintainer (Rail Freight)

Salary: Starting salary of £28,842.00, plus shift allowance.

Introduction

At DB Cargo UK, we're recruiting for a Mechanical Fitter to join our Wagon maintenance shop at our site in Westbury. As a Mechanical Fitter within our Wagon Team, you will be responsible for the maintenance, overhaul and refurbishment of rolling stock in accordance with the relevant regime and specification.

What will you be doing?

• fault finding
• rectification work
• damage repairs
• modification and work arising
• To carry out damage reports / overload inspections on behalf of the customer and provide all documentation including photographs when required
• Complete all relevant documentation relating to all work carried out on any rolling stock vehicle including completing and sending the Axiom proforma work order form V2 to the Field Maintenance Assistant
• Correctly filling and storing all rolling stock documentation
• To communicate stoppages and relay the progress of rolling stock to the Field Maintenance Coordinator
• Ensure that stock levels are kept to the required standard and stock is stored correctly and order / reorder stock as required

What are we looking for?

We're looking for someone with a mechanical mindset who has experience with the use of air and hand tools. Experience in Fabrication, grinding, brake testing is also an advantage. Experience operating manual or CNC lathes, particularly XYZ lathes, would be a significant advantage and qualifications within an engineering discipline would be advantageous. Rail industry experience would also be an advantage, and you must have a pro-active approach to working with good organisation skills.

Candidates with experience of: Maintenance Fitter, Engineering Maintenance Fitter, Mechanical Technician, Mechanical Maintenance Technician, Engineering Technician (Mechanical), may also be considered for this role.
