Job summary

State Street Investment Management is seeking a Senior Quantitative Researcher in London to advance the Systematic Equity research platform. You will generate ideas, lead projects, and apply AI to enhance investment outcomes while collaborating with portfolio managers to translate insights into investable strategies.

You will mentor junior researchers and contribute to a high-performing research culture, reporting to the Lead Research Supervisor for Systematic Equity.

Qualifications

• PhD strongly preferred in a quantitative discipline.
• Demonstrated experience in quantitative research and systematic investing.
• Deep knowledge of quantitative equity investing, including alpha research, factor modelling, portfolio construction, and risk management.
• Strong understanding of machine learning and AI with hands-on experience applying these techniques to quantitative models.
• Demonstrated ability to leverage AI tools in research activities.
• Excellent programming skills in Python and/or SQL; distributed computing and large-scale data processing is a plus.
• Proven ability to lead independent research and translate findings into practical investment applications.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with PMs, researchers, and technology teams.

Responsibilities

• Generate ideas for investment process innovation with focus on alpha generation and portfolio construction.
• Lead and execute research projects from ideation to implementation and evaluation.
• Apply machine learning and AI to data analysis, alpha generation, portfolio construction, and risk management.
• Collaborate with portfolio managers to improve existing strategies and develop new capabilities.
• Maintain and evolve the research and production platform.
• Present findings clearly to PMs, researchers, senior management, clients, and prospects.
• Mentor junior researchers and foster a collaborative research culture.
