What Does a Land-Based Engineer Do?

This is an Engineer who carries out a wide range of tasks including fault finding, repair, servicing and maintenance on machinery, plant and associated equipment including powered tools and utilities. Unlike marine or aviation equipment, this role focuses specifically on land-based machinery.

  • Year 3: Take on increased responsibilities, including advising on machinery repairs for customers and diagnosing complex faults. Again, you'll spend 10 weeks at college, away from home.

We offer a competitive starting salary of £16,000 in the first year, increasing to approximately £26,000 upon qualification. You'll receive on-the-job training alongside a college education leading to a nationally recognised “Land-Based Engineer – Technical Level 3”qualification. Successful completion of the apprenticeship scheme also guarantees a permanent position at Vp plc.
