The Team

The Hedge Fund Credit team within Global Markets Credit (GMC) manages counterparty risk for a portfolio of EMEA-based hedge funds.

GMC, part of Enterprise Credit, handles credit relationships for wholesale clients, analyzing and underwriting debt financing and derivatives in line with Bank of America’s standards. GMC focuses on structured financing transactions, non-recourse lending to SPVs, hedge funds, regulated funds, CCPs, and municipal banking and markets. While independent, GMC collaborates with product specialists, relationship managers, and risk functions.

Responsibilities

  1. Manage a portfolio of EMEA hedge fund clients from onboarding to credit approval and ongoing risk management.
  2. Conduct detailed written analyses of hedge fund clients, understanding their investment strategies, liquidity, leverage, and volatility.
  3. Perform qualitative and quantitative credit assessments, including stress and sensitivity analyses.
  4. Lead credit due diligence calls and prepare assessments for risk review.
  5. Recommend risk-based limits based on internal counterparty ratings.
  6. Approve daily trade flows, including calculating and applying Initial Margin.
  7. Coordinate with Legal for trading documentation and credit terms.
  8. Identify and escalate limit overages, margin disputes, breaches, and issues promptly.
  9. Support junior team members in managing limit breaches and developing product knowledge.
  10. Prepare monthly reports on European hedge fund exposures for senior risk committees.
  11. Engage with Sales & Trading, A&D, Collateral Management, Prime Brokerage Risk, and other teams.
  12. Assist with ad-hoc projects and regulatory reports as needed.

Requirements

  • Experience in hedge fund counterparty credit risk roles.
  • Strong knowledge of hedge fund strategies and risks.
  • Understanding of Global Markets and derivatives documentation.
  • Ability to handle deal flow in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills.
  • Problem-solving skills and timely issue management.
  • Good quantitative and Excel skills; Bloomberg experience is advantageous.
  • Team player willing to support colleagues and leadership.
