Job Opportunity: VP Development (BESS) - Renewable Energy

Taylor Hopkinson is hiring for a VP Development (BESS) for a London-based renewable energy developer, focusing on the development, investment, and operation of renewable energy projects globally.

Our client's global project pipeline is extensive and rapidly growing, with a strategic focus on renewable energy, green hydrogen, and sustainable infrastructure. The goal is to develop up to 100 GW of renewable energy capacity and produce 1 million tonnes of green hydrogen annually by 2030. Key projects include solar, wind, and hydrogen developments across Southeast Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and the US.

This role involves managing the full development portfolio at every stage, liaising with internal teams to ensure sites are developed for optimal operational trading from the outset, and solving challenges proactively to ensure smooth project progression.

This is a high-impact leadership role offering visibility, autonomy, and the opportunity to drive significant growth across Europe.

Responsibilities:

1. Manage grid connections: Interface with DNOs & TOs, accelerate grid connections, manage grid resource internally, and oversee formal grid application processes.
2. Manage land procurement: Oversee site finders, landowner relationships, and negotiate agreements, maintaining strong relationships throughout development.
3. Plan for risks and constraints: Identify planning risks, consider legal, technical, and land constraints in site layout planning.
4. Manage legal risks: Present risks to management, negotiate agreements, review legal reports, and ensure compliance with legal obligations.
5. Acquisition & disposal of sites: Appraise potential sites, manage joint development agreements, and oversee data rooms during due diligence.
6. Reporting & budgeting: Manage development budgets and provide regular updates to management.
7. Project handover: Produce comprehensive handover documents and assist in transition to construction.
