South East Dance seeks dynamic individuals to join our Board of Trustees. We need expertise in fundraising, income generation, and business networks, particularly in Brighton & Hove and the South East, to help expand our impact and reach.

What difference will you make?

As a Trustee, you will have a direct impact on Strategic Development Shaping South East Dance’s vision and ensuring its long-term sustainability by supporting key decision-making processes. Financial Oversight Ensuring the organisation’s financial health through careful budgeting and income generation, including from Trusts & Foundations, corporate sponsors, and individual donors. Community Engagement Helping South East Dance reach a wider audience and engage with underserved groups by influencing programming that makes dance accessible to all. Cultural Impact Championing the transformative power of dance, improving the physical and mental health of the community, and fostering creative placemaking. Representation & Advocacy Acting as an ambassador for South East Dance at key events, and helping to raise its profile locally, regionally, and beyond.

What are we looking for?

Commitment to South East Dance’s mission and values Experience of income generation and/or nurturing relationships with potential sponsors and donors Big picture thinker Proven track record of thinking and acting strategically Demonstrable commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion and willingness to take action to ensure the organisation is representative Ability to devote sufficient time to fulfil the role effectively Knowledge of the South East region Experience of charity governance An interest in dance and/or the arts/culture sector Resident/working in Brighton and Hove and/or in the South East region

What will you be doing?

South East Dance is committed to advancing the practice and appreciation of dance in Brighton, Hove, and the wider South East. As a Trustee, you will work alongside a dedicated group of individuals who share a passion for dance's potential to enhance health, wellbeing, and community life. Trustees are essential in making strategic decisions, supporting governance, and helping the organisation grow and thrive. The role involves working with the Senior Leadership Team to set strategic goals, ensure financial health, and advocate for the charity in both public and private spaces. You will join South East Dance at an exciting time as the organisation continues to expand its offerings through The Dance Space fostering opportunities for local communities, young people, and dance artists. By joining the Board, you will contribute your expertise to an organisation that is dedicated to enriching lives through dance and ensuring the charity’s growth and success in its second year at The Dance Space. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the arts and the community, contributing to South East Dance’s mission of inclusivity, creativity, and wellbeing.
