Job summary

A community service organization in Chelmsford is seeking Peer Mentors/Volunteers to help support service users. You will facilitate groups and provide one-to-one peer mentoring while using your lived experience to enhance service delivery. This role offers a unique opportunity to engage with others and contribute to the community's well-being.

Qualifications

  • Experience in supportive roles preferred.

Phoenix Futures Services in Essex recruits, trains, and develops peer mentor volunteers to support and engage the people who use our services, adopting a holistic and trauma-informed approach. We seek guidance and knowledge from our lived experience representatives to co-design and co-produce the service delivery across Essex.


Services that Phoenix Futures run in Essex include:

  1. Futures Together (Criminal Justice and Social Inclusion services)
  2. Essex Liaison and Diversion
  3. Specialist Community Forensic Team (SCFT)
  4. Drug and Alcohol Street Support (DASS)
  5. Phoenix Housing and Supported Tenancy (HoSTs)
  6. ESAT service

Purpose of the Role

  1. To support the running and delivery of services.
  2. To support the facilitation of groups.
  3. To provide support and encouragement to people accessing community services and activities.
  4. To use your lived experience and knowledge to help design and co-produce services and support new initiatives.
  5. To offer one-to-one peer mentoring to service users who have been referred for this support, where appropriate.
