Job summary

The Nelson Trust in Gloucester is seeking a Volunteer and Mentor Coordinator to join the Gloucester Drug & Alcohol Community Services team and drive volunteering and mentoring opportunities to support recovery journeys.

You will recruit, train and support volunteers, recovery coaches and peer mentors, helping people build confidence, skills and progression into education, training and employment. This role requires a full driving licence and regular travel across sites.

Qualifications

• Experience recruiting, coordinating and supervising volunteers or volunteer programmes.
• Ability to motivate, engage and support individuals from a wide range of backgrounds.
• Excellent communication, relationship-building and organisational skills.
• Experience developing partnerships and working collaboratively with external organisations.
• Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, coordinate, train and support volunteers, recovery coaches and peer mentors across the service.
• Assess individual needs and match volunteers to appropriate internal and external placements.
• Develop volunteering pathways that help individuals gain skills, experience and progression opportunities.
• Deliver inductions, arrange training, provide supervision and maintain volunteer development records.
• Build and maintain strong partnerships with local organisations to increase volunteering opportunities.
• Monitor volunteer engagement, manage budgets and expenses and produce reports to support service development.
