Marketing and Communications Volunteer

Where you will be based: St Catherine’s Hospice, Pease Pottage

WHY WE WANT YOU

We're looking for an enthusiastic individual who is keen to help support the marketing and communications function of a local charity.

You will have a varied, hands-on role within the hospice’s Marketing and Communications Team where you’ll support the research, writing and creation of various communications materials.

Each week will be different, and you’ll contribute fully to our small, busy team.

This role is ideal for people looking to build experience and knowledge in marketing and communications or looking to utilise the skills they’ve learnt from working in a similar position.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Writing marketing copy and drafting press releases
  • Using a design template to create our monthly ‘Loo News’
  • Adding articles to our internal intranet and external website blog
  • Supporting with transcribing interviews or typing notes
  • General admin support and research dependent on the team's needs
  • Scanning and filing media coverage and consent forms.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

THE SKILLS YOU NEED

Some experience or a passion and interest in marketing and communications

  • Excellent IT skills, preferably with knowledge of SharePoint and WordPress or a willingness to learn
  • Experience of using simple design programmes like Canva or a willingness to learn
  • Photography experience
  • Confident researching varied topics
  • Emotional resilience in hearing or reading hospice experiences
  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • Good attention to detail
  • Good organisational skills
  • The ability to communicate professionally with hospice contacts
  • Commitment to undertake any training required for the role including a mixture of face-to-face training and e-learning as required.

WHAT TRAINING MUST I DO?

We’ll need you to attend our Staff and Volunteer Induction Day training alongside completing some e-learning which will be assigned depending on your role.

WHAT ELSE DO I NEED TO KNOW?

Minimum age 18 The role will be based onsite at our hospice in Pease Pottage.
