This is a chance to help shape an ambitious new initiative from the ground up. What are we looking for?
We are in the process of registering as a charity and are seeking trustees who share our vision - to help guide our governance, grow our partnerships, and support our commitment to ecological learning, community building, and cultural regeneration. This is a chance to help shape an ambitious new initiative from the ground up. There will also be an advisory membership - a broader network of contributors, practitioners and thought-partners - to inform the work and keep it grounded in practice and diverse lived experience. We are looking for trustees who bring experience in Charity governance and compliance Accounting and financial oversight Fundraising and development We also welcome trustees who are actively engaged in - or have a strong interest in - the themes at the heart of our work belonging, ancestral knowledge, our shared histories, ecological regeneration and imaginative futures. What the Role Involves Helping to shape the strategic direction of Where the Rivers Meet Supporting us to meet our legal duties as we move toward registered charity status Providing insight, oversight, and encouragement as we grow Contributing to our funding journey – whether through direct involvement or by championing our aims Dedicating approximately four to six hours per month to trustee responsibilities Attending four to six meetings a year (online or in person) Taking part in occasional sub-groups or informal gatherings As we’re currently in the formation phase, there may be a slightly greater time commitment at the start – particularly as we prepare our charity registration and build our foundations. That said, we don’t expect every trustee to be involved in every area; we value a range of contributions and levels of involvement. We understand that availability and capacity can vary, and we aim to be flexible and supportive in accommodating different needs and circumstances. What will you be doing?
Would you like to become a trustee of a charity-in-formation rooted in the theme of belonging? Are you passionate about community food growing, ecological regeneration, and land-based projects that centre care, creativity and connection? Where the Rivers Meet is entering its first 12-month pilot phase, focused in London with occasional events across the UK. Our work sits at the intersection of social and ecological regeneration - supporting communities to imagine and grow more connected, just and enduring futures. We're seeking trustees who share our values and can help guide our governance, grow our partnerships, and support our vision. We’re especially keen to hear from people with experience in Charity governance and compliance Accounting and financial oversight Fundraising and development You don’t need to have been a trustee before – we welcome first-time trustees and offer support in the role. Rooted in the idea of confluence – where diverse streams of thought, culture, art and storytelling merge – Where the Rivers Meet creates spaces for dialogue, connection and transformation. We curate participatory events and resources that centre belonging, ancestral knowledge, ecological repair and future-making. Led by Luciane Pisani (Brazil) and David Reeve (UK), long-term collaborators in design-led storytelling, filmmaking, publishing and public programming, Where the Rivers Meet builds on their previous work with Where the Leaves Fall, an environmental magazine and event series with over 300 contributors and a global reach. Trustees are appointed for an initial one-year term, aligning with our pilot. Responsibilities include Helping shape strategic direction Supporting legal and governance requirements Contributing insight and encouragement Championing our funding journey Attending 4–6 meetings per year and contributing 4–6 hours per month As a trustee, you'll gain experience in charity leadership, develop your skills, and be part of a growing community committed to regeneration, relationship and imaginative change.
