What are we looking for?
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in graphic design tools such as Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, or equivalents (e.g., Canva, Figma).
- Strong understanding of layout, typography, and visual hierarchy.
- Ability to design for both print and digital formats.
- Experience in preparing artwork for professional printing (bleeds, margins, colour formats).
- Attention to detail in creating user-focused, clear designs for technical content.
Preferred Experience
- Creating training materials or educational resources.
- Designing quick-reference tools like check cards or cue sheets.
- Developing templates for magazines or multi-page documents.
- Designing social media graphics and web assets.
- Experience in non-profit, humanitarian, or maritime sectors (preferred but not required).
- Familiarity with branding and style guides.
What will you be doing?
As a volunteer graphic designer, you will develop visual assets supporting SAR training and outreach, including:
- Designing course manuals, presentations, and visual aids.
- Creating check cards and quick-reference tools for operational use.
- Developing a magazine template for publications.
- Producing online adverts and social media graphics to raise awareness.
- Ensuring brand consistency across all materials.
What we’re looking for
