Our small charity aims to significantly impact the local community's mental health and wellbeing by engaging them in affordable creative activities. An experienced grant writer will assist us in increasing our income by identifying more funding opportunities and applying for them, thereby improving our success rate and helping us secure long-term funding at a larger scale, giving us the confidence to aim higher in our funding bids to support our growth and sustainability plans.

  • Make plans, forecasts, and budgets, keep them up to date, and report on them

What will you be doing?

You will work closely with the Chair of the Trustees, who has been writing funding bids for over 10 years. We are keen to share the responsibility for grant writing and involve someone with professional experience with a view to them eventually taking over as a supported leader grant writer. Your responsibilities include:

  • Work with trustees, activity leaders, and service users to identify funding needs.
  • Research possible sources of funding and identify eligible and suitable funding sources.
  • Produce a funding timetable, showing when funds open for application, close for application, and decision dates.
  • Schedule work for each application based on the funding timetable.
  • Produce a funding budget and forecast, identifying where, when, and how much funding is needed, together with the forecast sources of that funding.
  • Write and submit funding bids.
  • Report on spending and the impact of funding according to the needs of the funder and the trustees.
