A Volunteer Grant Assistant will have a direct impact on Spiral Freerun CIC’s ability to support more young people in need. By helping secure vital funding, they will enable us to sustain and expand programmes aimed at children and teenagers facing disadvantage, neurodivergence, or mental health challenges. Their support will allow our coaching team to focus on delivery while ensuring we can continue offering fully funded places, school outreach, mental health initiatives, and leadership pathways. Every successful grant helps remove financial barriers, keep our doors open, and maintain a safe, inspiring space in Bedford town centre. Ultimately, this role helps unlock opportunities for young people to develop confidence, life skills, and community support, often for the first time. Their contribution will help sustain a life-changing service for our participants.
The ideal Volunteer Grant Assistant is proactive, detail-oriented, with strong written communication skills and a passion for making a difference. They should be comfortable working independently, researching funding opportunities, reviewing criteria, and drafting applications collaboratively. Experience in grant writing, fundraising, or research, along with an interest in the charity or youth sector, is preferred. Good English skills, basic IT knowledge, and deadline management are essential. Personal qualities such as reliability, curiosity, and a commitment to equity and inclusion are valued. An understanding or interest in youth development, sport for change, or community wellbeing is a plus.
