Job description

At Our Voice Our Journey CIC, we're on a mission to amplify the voices of young people and communities so they can shape their own futures and reimagine society. We’re a passionate, growing organisation and now we’re looking for a voluntary Finance Director to join our board who shares our heart and our vision, and who can help us stay financially strong, compliant and sustainable as we grow.

Who are we looking for? We’re after someone who’s confident with numbers, great at asking the right questions, and genuinely excited about creating change. You’ll have experience in finance & accounting, and have an understanding of the third sector and grant funding and be able to help steer a growing organisation. If you have experience of Community Interest Companies thats fantastic but as long as you are willing to learn, that ok! You’ll be able to guide us as we grow, advising on annual accounts, corporation tax and becoming VAT registered. You don’t need to be a qualified accountant (though that’s a bonus!) you just need to care deeply about what we do and be ready to use your financial know-how to make a real difference. You’ll help us ensure compliance with regulations and ethical standards, providing guidance, and supporting decision-making processes.

If you want to be part of something powerful, people-led, and full of potential—this is your moment.

What will you be doing? As our Finance director, you'll:

  • Help oversee our financial health and make sure we’re on solid footing
  • Support us with budgeting, planning, and financial decision-making
  • Translate the money stuff into clear, simple info for the rest of the board
  • Ensure we're meeting our legal, financial and regulatory responsibilities
  • Making sure we follow the law, our governing documents and policies and, where issues arise, these are dealt with quickly.
  • Assist us to consider potential risks, and monitor progress to keep the organisation on track
  • Be a critical friend—help us think ahead, take smart risks, and grow sustainably

You’ll work closely with our founding directors and youth board, shaping how we grow and make an impact.
