Job description

Are you interested in empowering offenders to make positive changes to their lives?

Do you want to volunteer from home at a time to suit you?

Can you spare 3 hours a week?

If the answer to the above questions is yes, then come and join our team of volunteer tutors.

Criminon UK is a national charity that has been providing distance-learning courses for offenders and ex-offenders for over 20 years.

Four of our courses in literacy, practical morals, and drug awareness are accredited through Laser Learning Awards, an Ofqual approved organisation affiliated with the University of Kent.

Our courses are based upon the non-religious works of L Ron Hubbard, who was also the founder of Scientology. However, we are a secular charity that is independently managed, and we welcome anyone interested in tutoring, irrespective of age, disability, gender, sexual orientation, or religious or non-religious belief.

Whilst previous tutoring experience will be advantageous, no experience is necessary as full training will be given.

Skills
  • Very good written communication
  • Patient and caring attitude as many offenders have learning difficulties
  • Well organised and persistent
  • Attention to detail and good administrative skills in maintaining learner folders
  • Able to work on own initiative and as part of a team
