A local healthcare charity is seeking Volunteer Counsellors to provide essential emotional and psychological support to bereaved patients and their families. As part of the Counselling and Support Service (CSS), you will provide counselling to patients and their significant others. This vital role offers emotional and psychological support during pre- and post-bereavement, requiring high empathy, awareness, and sensitivity.

Volunteers are also expected to support other CSS activities such as bereavement groups and events.

This is a great opportunity to be part of a caring and professional service.

When?

Up to 4 hours per week with clients.

Group supervision occurs fortnightly for 2 hours. Current supervision times are Tuesday or Thursday mornings between 10 am and 12 noon, and Tuesday afternoons between 2 pm and 4 pm. An additional Monday afternoon session is planned.

Our counselling services include evening appointments and Saturday mornings to accommodate client needs.

Further Information

Volunteer Counsellors currently work via telephone, online, and in person.

Full training is provided before starting client work, along with ongoing Clinical Supervision. Client work typically begins with individuals who have been bereaved.

We offer 4 CPD days annually and other training opportunities. Mandatory training is part of your induction, and a New Starter Welcome Day is held on the first Friday of each month.

A minimum commitment of two years is required.
