What will you be doing?

Use your financial skills to help bring world-class music to the heart of the community. Pitchstone Music is a dynamic, new, classical music charity based in Leytonstone, East London. We believe that great music should belong to everyone — not just those who can travel to major concert halls or afford expensive tickets. That’s why we’re bringing outstanding professional musicians into local spaces, schools, care homes, and community settings, making chamber music accessible, inspiring, and relevant to people from all walks of life. As we grow rapidly, we’re looking for a volunteer charity accountant to join us on this exciting journey. Your financial expertise will play a crucial role in helping us build a strong, sustainable foundation so we can focus on sharing music and making a real impact in our community. You’ll work closely with Rachel Roberts, internationally renowned viola player and founder of Pitchstone Music, who has poured her passion into creating a charity that’s as much about people as it is about performance. Rachel leads a small but dedicated team and your input will directly support decision-making at a pivotal stage in our development. We’re already delivering world-class concerts and are about to launch education projects and participatory programmes for vulnerable groups. But with growth comes complexity. As our volunteer accountant, you’ll help us Keep clear, accurate financial records. Support budgeting for concerts, education, and outreach projects. Prepare simple financial reports for trustees and funders. Ensure compliance with charity financial guidelines. Advise on cash flow, grant management, and sustainable planning. There’s flexibility in how you can be involved — whether that’s offering a few hours a month to oversee key processes, or becoming more embedded in strategic financial planning as we expand. We’re open to shaping the role around what works for you. This is more than just numbers on a page. Your contribution will help ensure that a child in Leytonstone hears live classical music for the first time; that an isolated older person finds joy in a community concert; that survivors of hardship experience moments of peace through music. Financial stability underpins all of this. If you’re passionate about the power of music and want to use your professional skills to make a real difference at grassroots level, Pitchstone Music offers a rewarding, inspiring environment where your work will be truly valued.
