Job description

Volunteer Chair of the Board of Trustees for Being The Cure | BEING THE CURE

We are seeking a visionary Chair to lead Being The Cure into its next chapter. Join us to expand our impact through character development for disadvantaged youth.

What difference will you make?

In 24/25, we opened our second Saturday School, doubling impact, and partnered with a university to evaluate our programme. For 25/26, our goals include strengthening the programme, securing funding for scaling, and developing operations to maximize our CEO’s impact.

Transition in leadership: Our current Chair is stepping down due to personal reasons. A temporary Chair (Ben) will remain to ensure continuity during the recruitment and transition process.

What are we looking for?

  • Strategic leadership: Guide our organisation’s direction and support our CEO.
  • Governance oversight: Ensure compliance and effective governance.
  • Stakeholder engagement: Build relationships with trustees, donors, and partners.
  • Board development: Foster a collaborative and effective Board.
  • Public representation: Act as an ambassador for Being The Cure.

Essential experience: Leadership, strategic vision, excellent communication, and a passion for our mission. Board or Chair experience and sector knowledge are desirable.

Time commitment: Approximately 20 hours per quarter, including meetings, prep, and engagement with the CEO.

About us: We run Saturday Schools in Newham, teaching moral values through storytelling and play, aiming to develop the next generation of heroes.

Join us to make a difference, grow professionally, and be part of a passionate team dedicated to positive societal change.
