Job summary

Mears Group in Birmingham is seeking an experienced Plumber to join our Voids team, carrying out repairs and refurbishments in empty social housing properties to lettable standards. You will perform installations, maintain water systems and work to high safety and quality standards.

The role is full-time permanent, 42.5 hours per week (8-5, Monday to Friday), and based in Birmingham. A company van and fuel card are provided, with opportunities for professional development and career progression.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in domestic repairs and maintenance in a plumbing position.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent customer service skills, with experience working in occupied homes.
• Good understanding of health and safety regulations and safe working practices.

Responsibilities

• Carry out plumbing repairs, renewals and installations within void properties.
• Replace toilets, basins, sinks, taps, baths and other sanitary ware as required.
• Repair and renew pipework, valves, wastes and water supply systems.
• Identify and rectify leaks, blockages and plumbing defects.
• Carry out repairs to hot and cold water systems.
• Assist with property refurbishment works to ensure homes meet lettable standards.
• Record completed works and materials used via handheld devices or job sheets.
• Work closely with supervisors and other trades to meet void turnaround targets.
