VodafoneThree in Newcastle (Field Based) is seeking a Field Engineer to install, commission and maintain the Vodafone network and services to Vodafone standards. You will join the Field Engineering team and work on fixed and mobile networks, delivering reliable connectivity for customers.

The role requires willingness to travel, occasional rooftop work, and the ability to obtain SC clearance. A formal telecoms/electronic qualification or equivalent experience is expected, with a safety-first

• Multi-vendor CPE including Cisco, Juniper and ADVA.
• Core transmission technologies including DWDM and Ethernet.
• Mobile networking technologies 3G/4G/5G and associated equipment.
• Fibre and copper cabling and termination.

Location: Newcastle (Field Based)

Salary: Excellent basic salary plus, Vodafone benefits plus Standby and Overtime

Working hours: Full time 37.5 hours per week – Monday to Friday

Security Clearance: This position requires you to hold or the ability and willingness to obtain a Secured Vetting (SC) clearance. To become eligible for SC Clearance candidates must be able to demonstrate residency in the UK for the past 5 years.

What You’ll Do

• You will play an integral part of the Vodafone Field Engineering team, performing installation and maintenance activities in support of the fixed and mobile networks as well as Vodafone business solutions.
• Regular climbing of Vodafone’s extensive fixed and mobile infrastructure as well as rooftop-based working is essential. The role holder will be expected to undertake regular health assessments to ensure that all aspects of the role is carried out safely
• Adherence to quality and H&S standards as well as achieving agreed performance targets is essential to this role
• The role holder must have a flexible approach to working hours and be willing to travel if required to meet the demands of the business
• The candidate will be expected to participate in a 24/7 callout rota and / or shift pattern as and when required in alignment with the requirements of the Operating Unit you are assigned to
• The Field Engineering role is a physical one, with the need for manual lifting, climbing stairs, walking and being on your feet for large parts of the day, working in both inside and outside environments
• Install, commission and maintain the Vodafone network, products and services to agreed Vodafone standards and service levels without compromising safe working practices
• Follow our Vodafone HSE Absolute Rules, without exception
• Communicate with internal and external customers in a professional and timely manner
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and challenge existing processes and procedures in order to deliver operational excellence for our customers

Who You Are

Formal telecoms/electronic qualification or equivalent experience gained through previous roles

Provision of service, fault diagnosis and rectification of relevant telecoms technologies

• Multi-vendor CPE including Cisco, Juniper and ADVA
• Core transmission technologies including DWDM and Ethernet
• Mobile networking technologies 3G/4G/5G and associated equipment
• Microwave Radio
• Switch and Field DC power systems

Ability to work both in a team and on your own efficiently and effectively

A considerable amount of the role consists of lone working and so the ability to work efficiently, safely and independently is a must

Ability to work in a focused manner under pressure to meet tight deadlines

Ability to manage own workload to best meet the demands of the business

Adaptability and the ability to learn new skills quickly

Valid / full UK / EU driving license (Category B)

Excellent customer-facing skills

Ability to achieve and maintain SC clearance status

Ability to achieve and maintain Advanced Climber / Tower Rescue Certification and passing regular health assessments in accordance with MATS guidance

Desirable

• HND or Degree in an appropriate technical subject or relevant industry experience
• IP & Data accreditations – e.g. Cisco CCNA / CCNP
