Job summary

Vodafone is seeking a Field Engineer to join our Leeds team. You will install, commission and maintain Vodafone networks and related services across fixed and mobile platforms, traveling as required and supporting Vodafone business solutions with a strong focus on safety and customer service.

The role requires formal telecoms/engineering qualifications, SC clearance eligibility, and a valid UK driving license.

• Proven fault diagnosis and service provisioning in telecoms tech.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission and maintain Vodafone network, products and services to Vodafone standards.

• Travel as required; participate in 24/7 callout rota where needed.
• Ensure safety, quality and HSE standards are met at all times.
• Communicate professionally with customers and colleagues to deliver excellence.

What you’ll do

Main responsibilities:

• You will play an integral part of the Vodafone Field Engineering team, performing installation and maintenance activities in support of the fixed and mobile networks as well as Vodafone business solutions.
• Regular climbing of Vodafone’s extensive fixed and mobile infrastructure as well as rooftop-based working is essential. The role holder will be expected to undertake regular health assessments to ensure that all aspects of the role is carried out safely
• Adherence to quality and H&S standards as well as achieving agreed performance targets is essential to this role
• The role holder must have a flexible approach to working hours and be willing to travel if required to meet the demands of the business
• The candidate will be expected to participate in a 24/7 callout rota and / or shift pattern as and when required in alignment with the requirements of the Operating Unit you are assigned to
• The Field Engineering role is a physical one, with the need for manual lifting, climbing stairs, walking and being on your feet for large parts of the day, working in both inside and outside environments
• Install, commission and maintain the Vodafone network, products and services to agreed Vodafone standards and service levels without compromising safe working practices
• Follow our Vodafone HSE Absolute Rules, without exception
• Communicate with internal and external customers in a professional and timely manner
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and challenge existing processes and procedures in order to deliver operational excellence for our customers

Who you are

Please note, Candidates must hold SC Clearance or be eligible for SC Clearance. To become eligible for SC Clearance candidates must be able to demonstrate residency in the UK for the past 5 years.

• Formal telecoms/electronic qualification or equivalent experience gained through previous roles.
• Provision of service, fault diagnosis and rectification of relevant telecoms technologies.
  • Multi-vendor CPE including Cisco, Juniper and ADVA
  • Core transmission technologies including DWDM and Ethernet
  • Mobile networking technologies 3G/4G/5G and associated equipment
  • Microwave Radio
  • Switch and Field DC power systems
  • Fibre and copper cabling and termination
• Ability to work both in a team and on your own efficiently and effectively
• A considerable amount of the role consists of lone working and so the ability to work efficiently, safely and independently is a must
• Ability to work in a focused manner under pressure to meet tight deadlines
• Ability to manage own workload to best meet the demands of the business
• Adaptability and the ability to learn new skills quickly
• Valid / full UK / EU driving license (Category B)
• Excellent customer-facing skills
• Ability to achieve and maintain SC clearance status
• Ability to achieve and maintain Advanced Climber / Tower Rescue Certification and passing regular health assessments in accordance with MATS guidance.

• HND or Degree in an appropriate technical subject or relevant industry experience
