Job Summary:

This rewarding role involves delivering portfolio-driven land-based qualifications, providing hands-on learning experiences, and fostering a supportive and engaging environment to ensure student success.

Teaching and Facilitation: Deliver hands-on sessions, covering a broad range of units while fostering a positive and supportive learning environment. Ensure that units selected appropriately reflect the progression pathway for each student. Be creative and adaptive in approach to teaching. Provide high quality subject specific sessions which ensure that students acquire new knowledge and skills; develop ideas and increase their understanding; develop their ability to concentrate and work productively both independently and collaboratively, through real-world horticultural projects.

Guide students in both practical skills and classroom environments, offering support in group settings as well as one-to-one. Encourage students to engage in self-evaluation and foster reflective partnership work with their peers and other teaching staff.

Ensure student support workers clearly understand the learning objectives and activities, so they can confidently explain them to students. Help build teaching staff skills, knowledge and confidence.

Ensure that appropriate work is set for sessions in advance whenever an absence is anticipated.

Make sure that the learning environments are accessible to all participants, considering mobility and sensory needs.

Work collaboratively with students to create and adapt resources that support inclusion. Develop and maintain designated areas to align with the learning objectives, and qualification requirements. Take responsibility for keeping spaces organised and tidy, and report any health, safety or maintenance concerns promptly.

Individualised Support: Assess and understand the unique needs of each student, tailoring sessions and activities to ensure meaningful engagement and success across the vocational and core subjects. Work closely with teaching colleagues, to design a student-centred learning experience that empowers students to take ownership of their learning, ambitions and future, and enabling individual health and support needs.
