About the role: Vocational Trainer in Media & Esports

We are looking for a passionate and inspiring Vocational Trainer in Creative Media Production and Esports, within the Creative Industries and Createch Faculty based across our City of Oxford and Blackbird Leys Campuses.

Responsibilities

The Vocational Trainer role is varied, with responsibilities including:

  1. Carrying out Technician duties, managing equipment and studio spaces, checking in/out kit, managing bookings, tracking resources, ordering equipment, and ensuring safe working practices.
  2. Delivering lessons, supervising practical workshops, supporting student tutorials/1-1s, and providing feedback and guidance.
  3. Collaborating with the faculty team to plan projects, schemes of learning, and assessments.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for a practitioner, technician, or developing teacher passionate about enabling students to unlock their potential through skills like filming, editing, animation, visual effects, and research techniques.

The position is 29.5 hours per week (0.80 FTE) across our City of Oxford College and Blackbird Leys College campuses.

What do you need to be successful?

Candidates should have a relevant professional qualification and/or degree in Media Studies, Film Production, or related fields. We welcome applications from unqualified teachers with the ability to inspire and a willingness to develop teaching skills. Demonstrated ability to work with local businesses and communities to build work experience and project-based learning is desirable. An additional specialism within the wider Creative Industries and Createch Faculty (such as Art & Design, Performing Arts, Games Development, IT, or E-Sports) would be advantageous.
