Leeds Conservatoire is recruiting a part-time Vocal Tutor for Leeds Junior Conservatoire. The role focuses on teaching 11–18 year-olds in music theory, practical musicianship, and ensemble work, with duties across composition and performance.

The successful candidate will join a collaborative team of educators and industry professionals. You will deliver engaging, inclusive teaching, monitor progress, and contribute to curriculum development.

Qualifications

• Relevant Honours Degree in Music or related discipline.
• Experience teaching under-18s of mixed abilities, including students with SEND.
• Strong musicianship and ability to teach music theory, practical musicianship, ensemble work and creative music-making.
• Excellent communication, organisational and digital skills, including use of music technology.
• Understanding of current issues in music education, commitment to equality, safeguarding and student wellbeing.
• Must be available to teach on Saturdays during term time.
• Desirable: teaching qualification; CPD; experience in performance/composition; familiarity with Kodály/Dalcroze; Logic Pro/Sibelius.

Responsabilités

• Teach Music Theory & Practical Musicianship to students aged 11–18.
• Lead LJC Experience Band (Ages 8–11).
• Support students in composition using Logic Pro and Sibelius.
• Deliver inclusive and differentiated teaching for ages 8–18.
• Monitor progress, provide feedback, and support curriculum development and assessment.
• Collaborate with colleagues for performances, open days and events.
