Job summary

HCLTech in Havant, United Kingdom, seeks a VMware & Hyper‑V Administrator for a 3‑month fixed term contract (day-rate). The role covers Hyper‑V and VMware vSphere administration, VM provisioning, clustering, storage and networking, and PowerShell automation to optimize virtualization environments.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with ESXi/vCenter, Hyper‑V, and related storage/networking technologies, delivering reliable, scalable, and secure virtualization solutions.

Qualifications

• Experience in Microsoft Hyper-V and VMware vSphere administration, including ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, and Hyper-V hosts.
• Hands-on VM deployment, provisioning, cloning, migrations, snapshots/checkpoints, and lifecycle management.
• Strong expertise in Failover Clustering, CSV, HA, VMware HA, DRS, vMotion, and Storage vMotion.
• Experience with SAN, NAS, Fibre Channel, iSCSI, Datastores, VMFS, and Storage Spaces Direct (S2D).
• Knowledge of virtualization networking and PowerShell-based automation.

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Hyper-V and VMware environments to ensure high availability.
• Perform VM provisioning, migrations, and lifecycle management with minimal downtime.
• Configure and manage clustering, HA, and vMotion capabilities across hosts.
• Manage storage, networks, and related components (SAN/NAS/FC/iSCSI).
• Automate repetitive tasks using PowerShell and troubleshoot issues promptly.

Position Overview

• Experience in Microsoft Hyper‑V and VMware vSphere administration, including ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, and Hyper‑V hosts.
• Hands‑on experience in VM deployment, provisioning, cloning, migrations, snapshots/checkpoints, and lifecycle management.
• Strong expertise in Hyper‑V Failover Clustering, CSV, High Availability (HA), VMware HA, DRS, vMotion, and Storage vMotion.
• Experience with enterprise storage technologies including SAN, NAS, Fibre Channel, iSCSI, Datastores, VMFS, and Storage Spaces Direct (S2D).
• Knowledge of virtualization networking, including Hyper‑V Virtual Switches, Switch Embedded Teaming (SET), VMware Standard/Distributed Switches, VLANs, NIC Teaming, QoS, RDMA, SMB Direct, and SMB Multichannel.
• Hands‑on experience with Host Guardian Service (HGS) and Shielded VMs for secure virtualization environments.
• Strong troubleshooting, performance tuning, incident management, root cause analysis, and PowerShell-based automation experience.
