Job summary

Matalan is seeking a VM Manager to uphold high visual merchandising standards across the store and ensure impactful product presentation aligned with brand guidelines and commercial priorities.

You will plan seasonal changes, coach staff, and manage in-store POS while maintaining planograms and a premium customer experience.

Qualifications

• Visual/retail qualification or equivalent experience in a similar role.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high visual merchandising standards across the store, reflecting Matalan's guidelines.
• Plan and coordinate seasonal launches, campaigns and visual changes for timely, consistent implementation.
• Collaborate with Store Manager and Regional VM Manager to align visual priorities with store performance and commercial goals.
• Coach and develop store colleagues and VM advisors to build visual capabilities and uphold high standards.
• Lead by example to foster accountability and continuous improvement in VM execution.
• Oversee day-to-day product presentation and availability, maintaining tables, displays and key visual areas.
• Coordinate visual activity outside peak hours to minimise disruption and support customer service.
• Maintain planogram integrity across departments to balance commercial needs with brand standards.
• Identify opportunities to improve visual presentation to support sell-through and highlight key products.
• Use commercial insights to refine displays and react quickly to maximise sales potential.
• Maintain high visual standards across mannequins with ongoing upkeep of fixtures.
• Own in-store POS activity including ordering, distribution, setup and implementation of POS materials.

Job description

As a VM Manager, you are responsible for delivering high visual merchandising standards across the store, ensuring clear and impactful product presentation that enhances the customer experience. You will consistently deliver the Matalan brand by executing company guidelines in a consistent and visually engaging way, while aligning displays with commercial priorities. Using your understanding of customer behaviour and sales performance, you adapt layouts and highlight key products to drive sell-through, ensuring all visual activity supports overall store performance.,

• Drive the delivery of Visual Merchandising standards across all departments in line with company guidelines by ensuring all areas of the store consistently reflect Matalan's visual standards; making adjustments where necessary to maintain a high quality, cohesive in store experience.
• Plan and coordinate seasonal launches, campaigns and visual changes to ensure timely and consistent implementation.
• Work closely with the Store Manager and Regional Visual Manager to align visual priorities with store performance and commercial goals. Ensure that visual activity drives commercial impact and enhances the customer journey.
• Coach and develop store colleagues and VM advisors to build visual capabilities and maintain high standards. Provide ongoing training and guidance to colleagues in order to strengthen their visual merchandising skills.
• Lead by example through fostering a culture of accountability and continuous mprovement while ensuring all colleagues understand and execute VM standards effectively.
• Oversee day-to-day product presentation and availability through the maintenance of tables, displays and key visual areas.
• Coordinate visual activity outside of peak trading hours to minimise disruption and support customer service during trading.
• Maintain planogram integrity and visual principles across all departments to ensure consistency. Regularly make necessary adjustments while balancing commercial needs with brand standards.
• Continuously identify opportunities to improve visual presentation to support sell through and highlight key product areas.
• Use commercial awareness and insights to refine displays, spotlight key products and react quickly in order to maximise sales potential.
• Maintain high visual merchandising standards across all mannequins; ensuring styling, product presentation, and overall brand aesthetics are consistently executed to a premium standard, while managing the ongoing upkeep, care, and presentation quality of mannequin fixtures.
• Own and manage all in-store POS activity, including the ordering, distribution, setup, and implementation of POS materials, ensuring timely and accurate execution across stores., Enthusiastic, energetic and proactive in supporting the execution of visual merchandising strategies.

• Commercial Acumen
• Strong understanding of store operations and visual merchandising processes.
• Visual/retail qualification or equivalent experience in a similar role.
