The role of a Product Designer at Canonical

With Ubuntu, Canonical created the first Linux for human beings. Our design team is on a mission to turn complex, open-source software into intuitive products that can change the face of enterprise IT. We are looking for an exceptional Product Designer who shares our passion.

Our mission is to make enterprise-grade open source software, applications, and services accessible to people worldwide. We create renowned software impacting millions of engineers, enterprises, entrepreneurs, and consumers daily. Our multi-disciplinary web design and production team includes visual designers, UX designers, front-end, and back-end developers working together on exciting web projects. We foster a collaborative environment aimed at continuous improvement.

We seek an expert Product Designer fluent in current design thinking, passionate about technology and innovation, to bring the Ubuntu and Canonical brands to life across events, offices, digital, and social assets. As a multi-disciplinary designer, you will produce exceptionally crafted work aligned with business needs.

This role reports to the design manager - brand & marketing and is based remotely in the EMEA region.

You will contribute to impactful projects that influence millions daily, working within a multi-disciplinary team to create web projects that prioritize content, usability, accessibility, and web standards. Your expertise in typography, color, and layout will be essential to producing designs that enhance user experience and reach diverse audiences.

• Strong academic background with excellent results at school and university
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Art/Design
• Exceptional talent in branding, including visual identities and brand experiences
• Passion for user experience, technology, and innovative design
• Commitment to continuous learning, curiosity, flexibility, and a scientific approach
• Engagement with the latest design research and trends
• Proficiency in InDesign, Illustrator, Figma, and Photoshop
