Responsibilities include developing exciting visitor programmes and overseeing operations in a scenic 4,000-acre estate, requiring strong communication and organizational skills.
Being a Visitor Experience Officer for the National Trust is about engaging with visitors, inspiring them, and ensuring they have a memorable experience. We are seeking a Visitor Experience Officer to join the team at Attingham Park, one of our busiest sites.
Attingham is located in Shropshire, set in scenic countryside between Telford and Shrewsbury. The estate spans 4,000 acres and features a mansion built in 1782, a Walled Garden, Deer Park, and Pleasure Grounds. It attracts around 600,000 visitors annually and offers a vibrant year-round programme.
You will collaborate with the Senior Programming and Partnerships Officer and Senior Marketing Communications Officer to promote Attingham's stories, history, nature, and wildlife.
As part of the Visitor Experience team, you will work with staff and volunteers, including supervising a team of approximately 100 Visitor Experience volunteers supporting the visitor programme.
Reporting to the Experience and Visitor Programming Manager, you will serve as a lead Duty Manager, supporting both visitor-facing and behind-the-scenes operations to ensure smooth visitor services.
You will help deliver engaging programmes and manage specific elements of the seasonal visitor activities, such as creating family trails or leading active programmes like walking or sports activities.
Understanding visitor engagement is crucial. You will ensure high standards of presentation and clear communication across all visitor touchpoints, from online to onsite signage. As a champion of excellent visitor experiences, you will participate in the duty management rota, helping to run daily operations.
