Job description

The Widener University School of Nursing is currently seeking a dynamic applicant for a one-year, full-time, 10-month undergraduate nursing faculty position with expertise in Medical Surgical Nursing on the Chester Campus beginning in August 2025, reporting to the Dean of the School of Nursing.

The School of Nursing, accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and recognized by the National League for Nursing as a Center of Excellence, is known for its collegial and supportive faculty environment. We offer comprehensive faculty mentorship, opportunities for faculty development, and exceptional engagement opportunities within the School of Nursing and the University.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and deliver evidence-based teaching strategies for undergraduate nursing curricula, mentor and advise students, engage in service to the university, School of Nursing, and community, and contribute to fostering an environment that promotes diversity, inclusivity, growth, equality, and freedom of speech.

Secondary responsibilities:

  • Foster interprofessional learning experiences, engage in clinical practice as required by advanced practice certification, and volunteer at the Widener Community Nursing Clinic, which offers pro bono medical care to uninsured and underserved residents in the surrounding communities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education, training, and experience required:

  • Master’s degree in nursing
  • Current Multistate Compact License as a Registered Nurse or Pennsylvania RN licensure (or US RN licensure and eligibility for licensure in Pennsylvania)
  • At least three years of academic teaching experience, including clinical teaching
  • Minimum of three years of practice as a registered nurse in medical-surgical nursing
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Preferred qualifications:

  • Certification in Medical Surgical Nursing
  • Certification as a Nurse Educator (CNE), CNE Clinical, and/or CNE Novice

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR UNUSUAL HOURS:

  • May require teaching in the evening hours.
