Job summary

Priory Group is seeking a Visiting Consultant Psychiatrist to join Priory Hospital Hayes Grove in London, offering private inpatient, outpatient and Day Care services. You will build and manage a private practice with support for administration, marketing and regulatory compliance.

You will work within a respected private mental health network, enjoying flexible hours, clinical freedom, and a clear pathway into self-employment backed by Priory.

Qualifications

• GMC registration with relevant specialist registration is required.
• Experience in eating disorders, including NHS experience, is essential.
• Strong understanding of clinical governance and regulatory frameworks.
• DBS check and other standard regulatory clearances will be completed (funded by Priory).

Responsibilities

• Take clinical responsibility for patients, including ward rounds and treatment planning.
• Act as Responsible Clinician for patients detained under Mental Health Act (1983).
• Oversee referrals and preadmission assessments related to voluntary and detained patients.
• Provide psychiatric input to the multidisciplinary team for assessment, formulation and treatment.
• Engage in governance and service strategy meetings to improve care quality.

What you'll be doing

You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. As a Visiting Consultant, you will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients.

• Taking clinical responsibility for patients, including multidisciplinary ward rounds, risk reviews, strategic reviews and the development of a therapeutic milieu.
• Fulfilling the role of Responsible Clinician to patients detained under the Mental Health Act (1983).
• Supervising the process of referral and admission including contributing to preadmission assessments of young people with other team members.
• Offering a psychiatric perspective to the multidisciplinary team in relation to the assessment, formulation and treatment of adults.
• Contributing to management meetings and clinical governance meetings for the services provided at the hospital, and contributing to the development of service strategy.

Candidate Profile:

• GMC registration with relevant specialist registration.
• Experience in eating disorders including at least 2 years operating within a substantive role with the NHS.
• A strong understanding of Clinical Governance and regulatory frameworks.
• Successful completion of a DBS (funded by Priory) and other regulatory required checks.
