Job summary

Sailors' Children's Society in Hessle, UK, seeks a forward-thinking Chief Executive Officer to lead growth and ensure our mission supports children and families from seafaring communities. You will provide strategic and operational leadership, be the face of the charity, and work with the Board to deliver a sustainable future.

You will develop and execute a diverse income strategy, lead a compassionate, inclusive team and represent the Society at events and in partner negotiations.

Qualifications

• Senior executive leadership experience in a charity or comparable purpose-led organisation.
• Strategic, forward-thinking approach with the ability to turn strategy into deliverable plans.
• Proven record of securing significant income and building high-value partnerships.
• Excellent communication, relationship-building and influencing skills.
• Experience leading, developing and empowering teams with an inclusive style.
• Experience working with a board of trustees or non-executive board.
• Financial and commercial acumen with sound judgement under pressure.
• Commitment to our purpose, values, equality, diversity and inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Shape and deliver the Society's next strategy with the Board of Trustees.
• Grow the scale and reach of our family support through diverse funding streams.
• Lead a diverse income strategy across corporate partners, trusts, major donors, and events.
• Build and empower a skilled team within a compassionate culture.
• Represent the Society to partners, government, and the maritime community.
• Oversee safeguarding, governance and financial stewardship.
• Steer external communications and branding to tell an impactful story.
