Job summary

Cambridgeshire County Council is seeking a Vision Rehabilitation Specialist to join the Prevention & Early Intervention team in Cambridgeshire. You will assess and deliver tailored rehabilitation packages to visually impaired people, helping them live independently at home and in the community.

The role is full time 37 hours (with an option for 33 hours). You will mentor rehabilitation assistants, work under the Senior Vision Rehabilitation Specialist, and you must hold a Level 5 Visual

Qualifications

• Degree in Visual Impairment Rehabilitation or equivalent (Level 5).
• Knowledge of the Care Act 2014 and related safeguarding.
• Experience assessing and delivering rehabilitation for sensory loss.
• Ability to manage a caseload with a person-centred approach.
• Willingness to register with the Rehabilitation Workers Professional Network.

Responsibilities

• Identify, deliver and evaluate professional rehabilitation interventions to visually impaired people to enhance independence.
• Assess and provide support plans to prevent harm and dependency due to sight loss.
• Support, advise and mentor rehabilitation assistants.
• Report to the Senior Vision Rehabilitation Specialist.
• Deliver awareness training to social/health care colleagues as required.
