Job summary

Guide Dogs is seeking a Vision Rehabilitation Specialist to empower people with sight loss through tailored rehabilitation and independent living skills training. The role involves 35 hours per week, with travel across Greater Manchester, Cumbria and Lancashire, and occasional evenings or weekends.

You will assess mobility, independence and wellbeing, develop personalised programmes and support clients to use assistive technology and services to achieve goals.

Qualifications

• Qualified as Mobility Instructor or Rehabilitation Worker.
• Able to meet travel requirements (driving licence or alternative arrangements).
• Experience with people who are blind or partially sighted is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Build trusted relationships with clients, understand goals and support needs.
• Conduct holistic assessments of mobility, independence and wellbeing.
• Develop and deliver tailored rehabilitation and training programmes.
• Support clients with assistive technology and equipment usage.
• Regularly review progress and adapt support plans.
• Collaborate with colleagues and local services for seamless support.
• Mentor colleagues while maintaining records and safeguarding compliance.
