Job summary

ITAC Solutions is partnering with a fast-growing, technology-driven company in Birmingham to recruit a CTO who will own a mission-critical platform that has evolved over many years. You will shape the roadmap and directly influence daily workflows.

You will build and lead a team, have hiring authority, and engage with business leaders to turn big ideas into actionable plans, exploring new AI tools to enhance operations.

Our client, a fast-growing, technology-intensive company, is looking for a technical leader to take ownership of a mission-critical platform built over many years of development. This CTO role is a rare opportunity to step into a strategic technology leadership role, owning a complex, established system while building and growing your own team. You'll work directly with end users to shape the roadmap and bring new technologies into daily workflows.

Compensation: $150-200K Based on experience

What You'll Be Doing

• Oversee the ongoing health and improvement of a core technology platform, including how data flows in, gets processed, and reaches end users
• Build out and lead a technical team, with full say over hiring and personnel decisionsPut a coverage plan in place so critical systems stay supported around the clock, without requiring you personally to be on call
• Act as the main technical liaison to business leadership, driving regular planning conversations
• Turn big-picture priorities into actionable team plans and see them through
• Get close to the people using the system day-to-day so you understand what's working and what needs to change
• Explore where new AI tools could fit into existing workflows and help lead that effort

What You'll Need to be Considered

• Infrastructure-focused technology background from a small, lean shop
• Comfortable being hands-on when the situation calls for it
• Strong proficiency in MySQL, including how you explore data and identify anomalies (will be tested)
• Experience as a technical generalist across multiple technologies and systems
• Proven management experience with full authority over hiring and personnel decisions
• Strong communication and documentation skills
