Job summary

UHCW is seeking a Trainee/Specialist Biomedical Scientist in Virology and Molecular Pathology at Band 6. The role is a full-time NHS position (37.5 hours) with 24/7 shift working and a permanent contract. It covers operational delivery of infectious disease serology and molecular testing, across two sites in Coventry and Nuneaton.

Qualifications

• Biomedical Science degree acceptable to HCPC or equivalent qualification.
• Current HCPC registration as Biomedical Scientist.
• Commitment to work towards completion of the IBMS Specialist Diploma.
• Evidence of CPD.

Responsibilities

• Daily perform routine and specialised diagnostic services on patient or environmental samples containing potentially infectious material.
• Carry out routine maintenance on analytical equipment as required and in accordance with SOPs.
• Troubleshoot equipment and methods; advise Section Manager; liaise with service engineers.
• Prepare, store and use reagents required for laboratory investigations.
• Perform manual, semi-automated and automated laboratory investigations to required standards.
