Job description

Videographer | London | 12 Month Fixed Term Contract

For over 35 years, Aesop has carefully cultivated an inspiring and inclusive environment in which our employees are supported and encouraged to thrive. As a global retail organisation, we offer professional development and advancement opportunities to complement career goals and aspirations.

Our approach to skin care involves meticulous attention to detail, using only the most efficacious ingredients to create formulations which stir the self and senses. The same meticulous approach is taken during our recruitment process, seeking out considered and inspired individuals with a wealth of perspectives who bring out the best in themselves and others.

We aim to strike the right balance between people, planet and profit, actively reducing our footprint on the planet that generously sustains us. So far, this journey has led us to become a certified B Corp. We are committed to building a more sustainable and inclusive society.

Role purpose

Aesop Creative endeavours to develop unrivalled design that challenges and excites through concepts that resonate with local communities and honour our environment. Aesop Creative does not concede to the mass approach; we create distinctive campaigns and installations that are executed with formidable artistry. We are storytellers, delivering an authentic, timeless and unique approach.

The Videographer will play an intrinsic role translating this ethos across our internal comms. They will manage the production, capture and edit for all internal video assets, ensuring that the content received by the Aesop community represents the attention to detail and creativity we strive for in all our campaigns. This role will involve working closely with a wide range of stakeholders to review and prioritise requirements for motion capture, and to help define the role of video deliverables in our internal communications strategy.

The Videographer may also support production of external assets, including capture and editing. An important aspect of the role is guardianship of all motion files and building and maintaining a library of footage available for internal and external motion deliverables.

Role responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Production, capture and editing all global internal video assets, including colour grading, sound, motion graphics, global subtitling etc.
  2. Developing design guidelines for internal motion content, to be shared and applied across all regions.
  3. Advising and educating stakeholders on best practices in capturing insights, including but not limited to content such as interviews, internal events, instructional videos, PR activations.
  4. Ensuring the quality of video content produced by external agencies is upheld.
  5. Setting up and maintaining an online and offline content library for all internal and commissioned footage.
  6. Maintaining and updating the filmmaking equipment.
  7. Managing video content channels such as Microsoft Stream.

This is a full-time position, on a 12-month fixed term contract. We operate on a hybrid working pattern, with 3 days each week based in our London Bridge head office.

What we are looking for:

  1. Highly proficient in Adobe Creative software/ Premiere/ After Effects / Photoshop.
  2. Experience in all stages of video production with a wide range of outputs, including talking heads, interviews, event capture, training videos, etc.
  3. Confident in storyboarding and scriptwriting, with an ability to adapt to the Aesop aesthetic and tone of voice.
  4. A team player who can work closely with others to problem solve and propose creative solutions.
  5. Able to travel, sometimes with early starts (to film in Aesop stores before opening hours) and late finishes (during events).
  6. A portfolio / showreel that demonstrates both excellence in aesthetics and technical skills.
  7. Ability to adhere to pre-defined design guidelines to ensure content is on-brand and cohesive, and yet to champion fresh content iterations within this.
  8. Able to react quickly to changing demands and priorities, and to juggle multiple projects at once; proactive prioritisation of deadlines.
  9. Avid interest in culture-music, food, architecture, media, literature, technology and more.
  10. Confidence, friendliness, and respect when working with colleagues around the world.
  11. Detail-oriented, with a keen interest in, and affinity to, Aesop's brand and culture.
  12. High level of personal energy to drive projects to completion and sustain productivity and quality.
  13. Able to articulate and communicate ideas effectively.
  14. An understanding of best design practice.
  15. Open mindset and deep curiosity seeking to understand others, listen without judgement and act on diverse perspectives.
  16. Commitment to fostering an inclusive and psychologically safe work environment.
