£30,000 £35,000 per annum depending on experience, plus pension contribution, a flexible benefits scheme, and 26 days annual leave plus bank holidays and three days office closure between Christmas and the New Year.

We are looking for a full-time Video Producer with a strong understanding and passion for creating captivating video content to join our small team at Understanding Animal Research (UAR). 0.8 FTE will be considered for the right candidate.
Who we are
UAR is the UKs only dedicated animal research advocacy organisation. We are funded by more than 150 life science organisations, including the UKs top ten universities for life science, research institutions, research funders and charities, pharmaceutical companies, learned societies, and government agencies. Our primary aim is to ensure that there is factual, evidence-based information available to the public on how and why animals are used in scientific research. We open the doors to animal laboratories by sharing stories from researchers and animal care staff, highlighting new advancements in medical research and lab animal welfare, and explaining the regulations and laws surrounding animal research.
Who we are looking for
The Video Producer is an integral member of the team and is responsible for delivering engaging video content to a range of audiences (scientific, lay public, media, and policy makers) to drive the reach and influence of UARs work.
The Video Producer will work closely with UARs digital communications team to develop video content for UARs websites and social media channels. They will deliver video-related training for UAR stakeholders, and film and edit videos for UAR events such as lectures and workshops.
The Video Producer will also be expected to find opportunities for collaboration with UAR stakeholders. Previous examples include filming components of laboratory tours, producing training videos, filming research animals to use as stock footage, and filming interviews with technicians and scientists.
The Video Producer will be responsible for all aspects of video production, including setting up filming opportunities, script writing, filming, editing, and uploading content to UARs video hosting sites.
The successful applicant will report to the Head of Communications and Engagement and work closely with the Digital Communications Manager and Communications Officer. This role has no line management responsibilities.
Job Description
Digital communications
Supporting UARs digital communications team to develop video content for UARs websites and social media channels.
Sourcing, planning and creating video content for UARs website and social media channels
Working with the digital communications team to develop and execute UARs digital communications strategy
Working within the digital communications team to create and plan campaigns and collaborative opportunities with UAR stakeholders
Day-to-day management of UARs YouTube channel, including uploading videos, responding to comments, and analysing the performance of videos
Uploading video content to the UAR website and UARs other video hosting sites
Making simple graphics and animations to complement videos
Reporting on UARs video and filming activity to senior management
Maintaining and updating UARs online video resources
Managing UARs archive of video content
Maintaining UARs video kit
Staying up to date with trends and the latest social media video developments
Stakeholder engagement
Supporting UAR members and stakeholders with video production, training, and collaborative opportunities.
Filming and producing videos from UAR events
Delivering video training workshops
Working with UAR stakeholders to produce new footage for UAR use, including interviewing and script writing
Providing video content for UAR newsletters, guidance, and stakeholder updates
Advising UAR stakeholders on how to use video to communicate the use of animals in research
Building relationships with colleagues at stakeholder organisations
Other duties
Supporting the organisation with any other tasks as needed.
Essential
Skills and experience
Professional video production experience
Single camera operation including sound recording and lighting
Experience using video editing software such as Final Cut Pro, Premier Pro, or similar
Experience creating video content for websites and social media, including reels
Experience running a YouTube channel
Experience operating website content management systems
Experience in understanding and communicating complex scientific theory and research to a wide range of audiences including lay and academic individuals
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and oral
Excellent organisational skills, time management, and the ability to prioritise workload across multiple projects
Ability to communicate with different audiences including the scientific sector and lay audiences
Ability to liaise with stakeholders and act as a representative of UAR
A strong interest in scientific communications
Good numerical and IT skills with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint etc.
Proactive, self-organising team player
Attention to detail
An understanding of the scientific, ethical, and moral justification for animal research.

Ability to make simple graphics and animations
Experience making content for TikTok
Experience using Adobe Creative Suite
Experience using software such as Canva (or similar)
Photography experience

Additional information
The successful applicant will be subject to a three-month probationary period.
At UAR we observe core working hours of 9am 5pm (Monday to Friday). However, we do allow flexible working hours if required. Remote working is allowed but the successful applicant must be present in our Farringdon office for a minimum of two days a week. Following completion of the probationary period, four weeks of fully remote working is allowed each year.
Occasional evening and weekend work and travel may be required and will be recompensed accordingly.
