We are now looking for a video producer to work across Football Weekly and our network of weekly podcasts. You’ll shoot and edit video as part of the Guardian's award-winning podcast team.

We're on the lookout for creative producers who are passionate about visual storytelling and ready to help shape the future of our visual content for a suite of Guardian podcasts. One of our big ambitions is to take our award-winning podcasts and bring them to life in new engaging, visual formats - whether that's full-length video podcasts, short form social clips, animation, or innovative video storytelling.

This role is a 12 month fixed term contract or staff secondment.

About The Role

Part of a small team responsible for production of the Guardian’s Football Weekly podcast on YouTube and other video platforms Generating ideas for podcast episodes Preparing studios with lighting for multi-guest video shoots Remote-operating cameras and ensuring the highest quality audio and video capture Editing video podcast files to tight deadlines YouTube channel management and search optimisation Working across other Guardian podcasts as required

About you:


  • Knowledge and passion for football and an interest in global news as well as an appreciation of the evolving podcast world
  • Experience of directing presenters on camera
  • Understanding of studio lighting
  • Familiarity with multi-cam vision mixing and remote operation of DSLR cameras
  • Ability to work to regular tight deadlines
  • Experience with audio and video editing software: able to edit smoothly and accurately at pace
  • An interest in and understanding of Guardian journalism
  • An understanding of Guardian Football Weekly and what makes a good episode
  • Ideally, you’ll have a demonstrable ability to bring a diverse perspective to this role.

You'll have six weeks of annual leave per year (plus bank holidays) with the option to purchase an additional 5 days. Our pension scheme is generous; if you contribute 5% then we will contribute 8-12% (depending on your age).
