The Role

We seek a skilled Video Editor to join our team in London, responsible for editing diverse video content, including documentaries, news packages, and short-form content for multiple platforms. The role requires a calm, efficient, and flexible editor who can meet tight deadlines and handle shifting priorities, contributing to a wide range of topics from current affairs to entertainment.

You are:

• An experienced video editor with a strong portfolio
• Proficient in Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, and other Creative Suite tools
• Capable of editing content for various platforms like YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and The Independent's platforms
• Organized in file management and project archiving
• A collaborative team player committed to high-quality content

Key Responsibilities:

• Edit various content types including documentaries, explainers, and news stories
• Create platform-specific versions for social media
• Collaborate with producers, journalists, and editors to shape stories
• Perform basic sound and colour correction
• Maintain project organization and file workflows
• Contribute creative and technical input during post-production
• Ensure visual consistency and adhere to editing standards
• Understand SEO, metadata, and visual optimization
• Possess knowledge of international news and current affairs
• Experience with motion graphics for titles and explainers
• Collaborate remotely and in hybrid team environments
• Maintain a good eye for design and visual composition
