Job Summary

The VP Development is a critical role operating at the heart of Cubico’s development business. In this highly varied and flexible role you will be part of Cubico’s small central team leading the continued evolution of this business stream which is core to delivery of the company’s growth strategy. It will include working with local country teams to support them in defining and delivering on their local business plans, leading projects to put in place key components of the framework supporting Cubico’s development capability (systems, tools, processes, interaction between different functions), supporting larger, cross border greenfield acquisitions and assisting the Head of Development on all aspects of building the development business.

The VP Development will report to Cubico’s central Head of Development and will work closely with country teams and other central teams across all functions and disciplines. The role will be based in London and will involve travel to meet and work with other Cubico teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working with local country teams to support them in defining and delivering on their local business plans
  • Monitoring progress of the business against the business plan, highlighting areas of concern and identifying opportunities to accelerate delivery and outperform expectations;
  • Providing direct support to origination and country teams as required in building investment cases for new and existing projects in alignment with Cubico requirements and socialising them with central functions and senior management;
  • Leading on projects and/or specific workstreams to build Cubico’s development capability (for example to build functionality in our systems, improve processes, data management etc);
  • Working across country teams and central teams to ensure a consistency of approach to project management, developing skills and sharing best practice between teams;
  • Tracking market benchmarks for valuations of relevant transactions across Cubico markets in collaboration with local teams, to support project decision-making and assessment of Cubico pipeline value;
  • Providing support to the Head of Development as required and acting as deputy in their absence;
  • Proactively promoting knowledge sharing across the business and fostering a sense of a coordinated global development team that is fully integrated within the wider Cubico organisation.

Person Specification:

The successful candidate will have:

  • Significant international energy projects experience, with in-depth experience of renewables projects in development across multiple markets;
  • Project Management skills and experience in using project management controls (budgets, schedules, risk logs etc). Ideally a project management qualification/ certification;
  • Strong analytical background, commercial acumen with a strategic view and an understanding of renewables project fundamentals, economics and market drivers;
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong collaborative relationships with colleagues and foster this behaviour in others;
  • Solid planning and organising skills to include effective prioritisation, resource management and working remotely;
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deliver high quality work to tight deadlines;
  • Proactive and enthusiastic, with a positive attitude and a drive for high standards.
