VP of Technology working with a European neocloud, with responsibility for defining the overall technical strategy for both on demand (as a service) and private hosted cloud environments.

The business are a sovereign cloud solution, backed by central government with a mandate to deploy AI ready GPU cloud solutions.

The existing leadership are experienced neoclouds leaders having previously led GTM & Operations within leading cloud service providers. You are also backed by a parent company with deep technical expertise in AI software.

You’ll play the key role in shaping and delivering the technical strategy for the cloud deployments. You’ll be responsible for architecting both the hardware infrastructure and the software stack that will power AI workloads at scale. This role requires a rare blend of deep technical knowledge across GPUs, HPC infrastructure and cloud-native software—and the leadership skills to build and scale world-class engineering and infrastructure teams.

Key Responsibilities will include:

• Set the technology strategy & build the roadmap for design and deployments of multiple GPU clusters.
• Lead the design and deployment of GPU cloud clusters (rack-level to hyperscale).
• Oversee decisions on compute, networking (Infiniband, NVLink, RDMA), and storage layers.
• Ensure physical data center design supports cooling, power, and density requirements of AI workloads.
• Direct the development of the software control plane: provisioning, scheduling, orchestration, and usage metering.
• Champion best practices in security, observability, and scalability.
• Build and manage a high-performing team of engineers, architects, and DevOps professionals.
• Foster a culture of technical excellence, speed, and accountability.
• Mentor engineering leadership and contribute to talent acquisition efforts.
• Work cross-functionally with Product, Sales, and Customer Engineering to ensure technology meets market needs.
• Represent the company in industry events, technical partnerships, and strategic alliances.
• Present complex technical decisions clearly to executive stakeholders and investors.

Key Skills we’re looking for:

• Deep technical expertise in cloud infrastructure, HPC & AI workloads, with a proven track record architecting and deploying large scale, AI ready cloud solutions
• Networking stacks (e.g., NVLink, Infiniband, SmartNICs).
• Orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes, Slurm, Ray) and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible).
• Cloud-native storage and compute architectures.
• Strong understanding of AI/ML workloads and model deployment at scale.
• Proven leader of technical engineering teams / functions.

This role has flexibility to be remote. The ideal location would be UK or Spain as this is where existing leaders are based, however this is flexible for the right candidate.
