POSITION SUMMARY

ULI’s Corporate Partnerships programme continues to evolve to support the organisation’s growth in EMEA. Encompassing memberships, event sponsorships and registrations, and general funding, the programme supports a broad range of ULI initiatives and programmes, including key events, meetings, National Councils, research, educational programmes, and other efforts. The Corporate Partnerships team is responsible for retaining corporate members, managing partners, and identifying opportunities to raise new revenue to deliver on our mission priorities.

ULI is committed to building mutually beneficial relationships with major corporations through high-value programmes, events, and content. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer (CDO), the Vice President, Business Development, is responsible for all elements of corporate fundraising, and assisting in developing philanthropic institutional fundraising strategies. The role focuses on broadening and deepening corporate partner engagement by understanding their business and activities. The Vice President will work with teams across ULI, including National Council staff, to support and lead business development efforts, identify prospects, and develop systematic approaches to discussions and follow-ups. The ideal candidate will be highly collaborative, possess good communication, presentation, and business development skills, and have a good sense of humor.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Business Development

  • With the CDO, develop and execute a business development strategy that meets organizational needs and generates a sustained base of partners aligned with ULI’s strategic priorities.
  • Work closely with National Councils to oversee all business development activities.
  • Prepare and track proposals and deliver quarterly progress reports to monitor new corporate activity and progress against targets.
  • Engage in direct fundraising tasks, including prospect research, meetings, and proposal development to achieve revenue goals.
  • Collaborate with the CEO and CDO to develop a philanthropy go-to-market plan.

Organisational Leadership

  • Recruit and lead a growing team of business development professionals.
  • Serve as a senior leader of the Corporate Partnerships team, mentoring and growing the team.
  • Foster effective alignment among content, meetings, membership, and marketing by collaborating with senior leadership.

EXPERIENCE:

Ideal candidates will have a proven track record in business development, relationship building, and account management; strong analytical, strategic planning, and organizational skills; and exceptional team leadership. A genuine commitment to ULI’s mission is essential.

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 8-10 years of account management/business development experience, preferably in real estate, including 3-5 years in leadership roles.
  • Successful in securing investments from corporations and foundations.
  • Experienced in developing institutional partnership strategies that sustainably increase revenue.
  • Ability to articulate funding needs compellingly to stakeholders.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and experience managing annual processes.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a record of successful proposals.
  • Experience engaging with senior executives in business development or fundraising.
  • Executive presence.
  • Understanding of commercial real estate or land use issues is useful but not required.
