Job description

WIN Waste Innovations is a vertically integrated business with a platform of 50 strategically located collection, transfer, and disposal assets. These include waste-to-energy facilities, transfer stations, ash monofills, landfills, and fleets of rail cars and collection vehicles. We process more than 11 million tons of waste annually, converting million tons of waste into clean, renewable energy that powers 340,000 homes. We recycle more than 234,000 tons of plastic, paper, and metals from the waste stream.

Our WIN Waste Innovations facility is currently seeking an Assistant Utility Operator who can help monitor and operate ash and other auxiliary plant equipment from the field to maintain safe, efficient, and continuous plant operations. Perform maintenance and minor repairs to ash handling and other assigned auxiliary systems. Duties may include but are not limited to recognizing and mitigating operating difficulties and adapting to changing plant conditions with regard to maximizing plant safety and efficiency and minimizing downtime. Operate plant equipment and systems with assistance and guidance from PO to ensure proper functioning. Communicates clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing; as well as communicates clearly whether using in-situ intercom system, two-way radio, or face to face. Anticipates typical problems, identifies potential or recurring problems, and takes appropriate action. Troubleshoots equipment and assists in diagnosing problem areas. Operates other equipment including, but not limited to, industrial forklifts, manlifts, skid steer type loaders, and other mobile equipment.

Education and Experience:

  • Experience: Mechanical abilities sufficient to perform equipment maintenance and minor repair such as replacement of shear pins, valve repacking, strainer cleaning, and general preventative maintenance.
  • Must be able to work rotating shifts.
  • Must be able to work overtime.
  • For the State of Massachusetts, there is a requirement for an Assistant Utility Operator to hold a Massachusetts Hoisting License: 1C / 2A or ability to obtain these licenses within 9 months of hire.

  • Access confined spaces and pressure vessels through standard 12" by 16" manways
