Job description

Role Overview

Are you an experienced vet looking for true development with the potential to become Lead Vet? If so, there is a great opportunity rising to join a stable, supportive team in Cleveleys!

  • Flexible hours and can consider full and part time hours.
  • Fantastic salary up to £70,000 (DOE, FTE).
  • This is the ideal role for an experienced vet who is interested in developing their skills and supporting junior vets.
  • Relocation package available for direct candidates only.
  • Full time or part time and flexible working also supported.
  • 1:7 weekends will be included.
  • The practice is passionate about supporting charities working with the local RSPCA to provide veterinary care.
  • We like to develop our team so CPD and certificates can be supported.
  • Martin, the practice owner, is driven to support all his colleagues by organising special events such as well‑being retreats, the Winter ball and walking club.
About us

The practice is located in the rapidly expanding yet traditional seaside town of Thornton‑Cleveleys, just a few miles from Blackpool and offers great access to much of the northwest of England. We also have a second site inside a Pets at Home store on the edge of Blackpool.

The team and practice play an active role in the community and customer feedback is excellent. We pride ourselves in being more than ‘just a vets’.

Consults are 20 minutes as standard, ensuring they provide a comprehensive overview and allow for more rapid case workups and/or more involved case discussion with clients.

Full time work is spread over 4 days with a set day off each week. Weekends consist of a share of a 1:7 rota with a long weekend the following week. There is no OOH but occasional stable inpatients may be kept overnight.

The bright, air‑conditioned surgery is purpose built to industry‑leading standards and has state‑of‑the‑art equipment including a dedicated operating theatre, digital X‑ray, in‑house laboratory, ultrasound and dentistry facilities.

Personal development is actively encouraged and the practice is willing to invest in you and equipment to develop any specialist areas of interest. Full support is available for those who have recently graduated or need help with confidence in developing their skills.

Salary is dependent on experience. As part of the Pets at Home group we also have access to an excellent package and great benefits that include a competitive salary and exclusive company discounts and rewards – including 20% off at Pets at Home and the Vet Group.

Along with this you will also get:

  • We are looking for the right people so the role can suit anyone as we can evolve it around you!
  • We are also looking to expand our in‑house service, so an experienced practitioner who either has a certificate in a specific field or would like to work towards this would be very much welcome and supported.
  • We have a team of vets who have been with us for many years and so can support you should you be looking to gain confidence and experience in a positive workspace.
  • We have experience supporting new and recent graduates as well as international applicants.
