Warrington Riverside Vets for Pets is seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly team in Warrington. The practice offers a varied case load, modern equipment and a close-knit, supportive culture with a dedicated RVN team.

We provide flexible shift patterns, with part- and full-time options (20–40 hours) and a 1.5 weekend requirement for full-time roles. A strong emphasis on colleague wellbeing is reflected in dedicated spaces and regular EMS mentoring.

Responsibilities

• Join a team of vets and support 20–40 hour weeks with flexible hours and 1.5 weekends per month for full-time, or a lighter schedule for part-time.
• Assist in 2nd vaccinations, post-operative checks and schedule 3 under supervision.
• Work in a well-equipped practice with digital x-ray, ultrasound, in-house lab and dedicated nursing support.

About us:

We are seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to come and join our friendly and vibrant team at Warrington Riverside Vets for Pets.

Warrington is based in the Northwest of England, in between the cities of Manchester and Liverpool, just a 30-minute drive from either, along the M62. This is ideal for those who love city exploring on their days off, but also the beaches of Formby, Crosby and North Wales are all under an hour away if you prefer outdoor exploring. Both cities also have international airports which is perfect for weekend get aways or longer breaks during annual leave. The practice itself is located with the Pets at Home store on Junction 9 retail park, to the North of Warrington and under 30 minutes’ walk from the local train station.

Our team is currently made up of 4 full time vets and due to growth we are now looking for our 5th, we also have 8 RVN's, 3 VCA's and 5 CCA’s, all of whom are led by our amazing partners Alex and Sam who became JVP’s over 10 years ago. As a team we are keen on colleague development, with regular EMS placements for vet students, internal mentoring including surgical support due to one of our Veterinary Surgeon holding a surgical certificate, and we are recognised as an RVN and VCA teaching practice.

We are lucky as a practice to get a varied case load coming through allowing all our colleagues to gain great experience including both behaviour and surgical referrals. To support your development further and ensure that we are always providing the best care for our patients we have excellent equipment including Tonovet plus, Corneal burr, Suction. 4K laser and Cryopen along with much more.

About the role:

We are looking for an experienced vet to join our team of likeminded vets, we can support you through the next steps in your career and support you while you pursue your special interests. We can support full or part time hours between 20 – 40. With hours open for discussion including your lunch break! We really can adapt the hours for you, however there would be a requirement of 1.5 weekends a month for a full-time role. As a part time role the weekends can be worked as 1 Saturday and 1 Sunday per month (however this can be discussed).

The surgery is brightly lit with top quality equipment including digital x-ray, ultrasound, in-house lab, multi-parameters, automatic BP machine, bi-polar diathermy plus all the usual surgical kit. Our partner Alex is an OV and has a keen interest in surgery with a lot of experience, and one of our nurses is a veterinary behaviourist meaning we accept behavioural referrals inhouse.

In practice we run 15-minute consults, with diary space for emergencies or on the day bookings, alongside additional time for any admin. Our strong nursing team also conduct appointments where they can for 2nd vaccinations, post op checks and schedule 3, to help our vet team. This collaborative working as a clinical team has resulted in us being proud owners of RCVS accreditation along with ISFM and RAWF silver awards.
