Veterinary Surgeon - Small Animal (FTC)

Full-Time | 4/5 Days per Week + 1 in 5 Weekends

Start Date: November 2025| Duration: 12 months

Salary: Up to €60,000DOE

About The Role

Join The Well Pet Hospital, a leading small animal veterinary hospital in Sligo, as a Veterinary Surgeon on a fixed-term contract. We are seeking a confident, skilled vet to deliver exceptional care across consultations, surgical procedures, inpatient management, and emergency cases.

You will work 4/5 days a week with one weekend shift/on-call every five weeks, supporting a vibrant team committed to compassionate, high-quality care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic assessments and detailed treatment planning
  • Conduct routine small animal surgeries and dentistry procedures
  • Deliver consults with proficiency and empathy
  • Manage inpatients, emergencies, and intensive care cases
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues and communicate clearly with clients
  • Confidently work both sole charge and as part of a multidisciplinary team


  • What We're Looking For

  • VCI registered veterinary surgeon eligible to work in Ireland
  • Competent in routine and small animal surgery
  • Strong diagnostic and treatment planning skills
  • Excellent communication and team collaboration skills
  • Not suitable for new graduates or vets requiring extensive supervision
  • Interest or proficiency in dentistry is preferred but not essential
